ML Secret Wars

Yeah, if it wasn’t for those gimmicks, there are a lot of Classics figures (Scorpion for example) that would still be in my collection.

I'm a "No" on integrated gimmicks into homage lines. I hated the gimmicks save for a few (light up eyes for Cyclops were always cool) and it's one of those things I'm thankful have been left behind.

Light up Gambit and Psylocke were cool too. And those gimmicks didn't take much away from the actual figures. They still had mostly the same range as other figures of the era. But other then a couple light up pieces, I would largely be annoyed by gimmicks, at best. Downright infuriated at worst. Nothing like getting that perfect looking figure and finding out he has a giant back plug for a trigger gun thing so he can swing his hips.

I know this isn’t technically the place for this but on the subject of retro carded figures in general, but I’ve been thinking about this lately; if Hasbro decided to make their retro figures with the vintage styled gimmicks, would that appeal to anyone here? I’m thinking of characters like Iron Man with the attachable armor plating and Wolverine with the spring out claws or a Nightcrawler or Spider-Man with the suction cups on his hands and knees. Hell even a Venom with a flickering tongue. Would any of you be interested in seeing these retro styled gimmicks to enhance the playability of their figures

I would absolutely hate this idea. The gimmicks were my least favorite part of the 5 inch line and they always compromised sculpt and articulation to do them. The whole reason Marvel Legends took off was because they ditched the nonsense in facor of better articulation

Even as a kid, I hated 90% of the gimmicks in figures. They often limited how I could play, and that bugged me. Give me swappable fists with Wolverine claws extended and retracted any day over that "spring out" nonsense.

Buncha old grumpy folks not liking toys to be toys. rassmfrassm...

Honestly though, I did love putting the vac metal pieces on the Iron Men figures, and I didn't mind light up eyes or visors. Suction cups and the like on figures, not so much.

I'll be dead in the cold, cold, ground before I recognize a Banshee figure that doesn't have a giant whistle in its chest!
